Foundation Technologies, Inc. hosts ASCE Geotech and ADSC Southeast Chapter Drilled Shaft Research Project

Category:  Engineering News
Product:  Shaftspacer® Systems

Lawrenceville, GA - Foundation Technologies, the manufacturer of drilled shaft spacers - Shaftspacer® Systems, recently hosted a regional load test program jointly planned by the Atlanta area ASCE Geotechnical Engineering community and the Southeast Chapter of the Association of Drilled Shaft Contractors (ADSC).

Drilled test shafts were installed in late July, testing drilled shaft performance in competent rock and PWR (partially weathered rock) common to the Piedmont area.  The field activities included a load testing discussion led by Dr. Dan Brown, followed by a test site demonstration of the two drilled shafts by Loadtest, Inc. using Osterberg Load Cells. Discussion of the testing process and procedures by Loadtest, Inc. preceded the actual testing. Over 50 engineers, drilled shaft contractors, professors and DOT representatives attended the field test day.

Several companies including McKinney Drilling, Long Drilling, Powell Drilling, Loadtest, Inc., GeoHydro & Dan Brown & Associates donated a significant amount of their time and money to ensure the construction of the drilled shaft test was successful.
