Structural » Helices

This is defined as one flight of a screw thread, often called a spiral or auger shape. The CHANCE bearing plates are shaped in a helix with a 3 inch pitch so the bearing plate advances into the soil 3 inches with each revolution of the anchor shaft. When multiple helices are used, the helices are spaced in increments of 3 inches so that the helices can "track" the leading helix; this minimizes soil disturbance.
