The torque required for the installation of a helical pier can be empirically related to the capacity of the helical pier. A test should be carried out at a specific site to determine the ultimate capacity to-torque ratio for the site. Torque requires installation in the field to determine capacity. That is why the theoretical bearing capacity method is used.
